Job summary

Volunteers of America, Utah is seeking a Staff Manager for the Men’s Detox program to lead staffing, supervision, training, scheduling, and performance systems that support safe, consistent operations.

In partnership with the Program Director, you will apply program priorities, policies, and licensing requirements, and supervise Staff Coordinators, Lead Recovery Assistants, and Recovery Assistants.

Qualifications

• Degree in social services or related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• At least one year of supervisory or people-management experience preferred.
• Ability to supervise multiple staff levels, build schedules, manage performance, and train staff.
• Working knowledge of licensing requirements and quality improvement in human-services.
• Professional boundaries and confidentiality with diverse clients, staff, and partners.
• Strong communication, judgment, attention to detail, and crisis de‑escalation skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification within required timeframe; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead staffing and scheduling for Recovery Assistants and frontline leaders; ensure adequate PRN coverage.
• Develop, monitor, and adjust staff schedules; manage attendance and payroll-related tasks.
• Provide regular supervision and performance feedback for Coordinators, Leads, and Recovery Assistants.
• Address performance issues and coordinate corrective actions with HR when needed.
• Create and maintain a training system for onboarding, competencies, and ongoing education.
• Collaborate with the Program Director to update policies and ensure training reflects changes.
• Oversee admissions, discharges, client monitoring, medication processes, and safety checks.
• Ensure compliance with agency policies, licensing, confidentiality, and documentation requirements.
• Monitor quality findings and staff performance trends; drive training or process improvements as needed.
• Communicate staffing and operational priorities to the Program Director and frontline leaders.
• Participate in on-call management and perform duties onsite to support client services.
