Job summary

County of Sonoma's Sheriff's Office seeks an experienced Detention Sergeant (promotional) to supervise correctional personnel and manage inmate programs, housing, security, and administrative processing on assigned shifts.

Incumbents enforce rules, train deputies, maintain records, and respond to emergencies with firm, fair leadership. Applicants must meet state standards and be willing to work all shifts in uniform.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED; one year of work experience with an adult correctional institution in a position equivalent to Correctional Deputy II.
• Training or experience supervising or training other employees is desirable.
• Must meet CA standards and possess valid CA driver’s license if assigned to duties requiring one.

Responsibilities

• Supervise subordinate Correctional Deputies and support personnel.
• Oversee security, inmate supervision, housing, and administrative processing.
• Train and evaluate staff; enforce rules and policies with firmness and impartiality.
