Job summary

Mecklenburg County detentions leadership seeks an experienced Detention Program Director to oversee operations, policies, and staff ensuring a safe, compliant environment. You will engage with external agencies, guide program development, and promote rehabilitation and reintegration initiatives within the detention system.

The role requires leadership, strategic planning, and collaboration with stakeholders to advance community safety and service excellence at Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in Organizational Management, Human Services or Public Health Coordination.
• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or Project Management or related field.
• Two or more years of management experience.
• Experience in corrections, detention, or rehabilitation services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of Detention Programs.
• Develop and expand services within Detention Programs.
• Develop and manage contracts, budgets, grants, MOUs and related documents.
• Supervise staff and coordinate with community organizations.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal standards.
• Liaise with government and nonprofit partners; lead in crisis management.
