The Arizona Department of Public Safety in Tucson is seeking motivated and experienced Detention Transport Officers to join our team. Under general supervision, you will transport, book and process detained or arrested persons and provide support services to Department personnel.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of detention or corrections experience, or graduate from a certified academy; a valid Arizona driver license is required; must be available

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of detention or correction officer experience OR graduation from a certified law enforcement training academy.
• Must be at least 18 years of age by hire date.
• Must possess a valid Arizona Driver license by hire date.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, call-outs and overtime.
• Must complete a Department training program for detention/transport (waived if prior approved training or similar work within 5 years).

DETENTION TRANSPORT OFFICER

Salary: $54,831.92 - $71,726.51

Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is seeking motivated and experienced personnel to join our team in the Tucson area. Detention Transport Officers, under general supervision, provide support services to Department personnel by transporting, booking and/or processing detained or arrested persons. Performs related duties as assigned. This recruitment is to establish an 18-month eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies in the Tucson area.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year of experience as a detention or correction officer OR graduation from a certified law enforcement training academy.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 18 years of age by hire date.
• Must possess a valid Arizona Driver license by hire date.
• Must be able to work any hours including weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, call-outs and overtime.
• Must successfully complete a Department selected detention/transport training program. This requirement may be waived if an approved training program has been completed or similar work has been performed within the last five (5) years.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• May be exposed to fumes or dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and moderate to loud noise levels.
• Will be required to control combative, intoxicated, mentally ill, and uncooperative prisoners.
• Progression to the next step requires an overall performance rating of at least "Standard" in the last 12 months.

Applicants must complete an examination process. A polygraph and background investigation are required for successful applicants.
