Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) seeks a Detention Officer for the El Valle Detention Facility in Raymondville, Texas. The role focuses on custody and security of detainees, with an on-call work schedule and comprehensive responsibilities across housing areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior correctional experience is preferred but not required.
• A valid driver license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Search for contraband and provide security.
• Count, feed and supervise non-citizens in housing, work, and other areas.
• Provide custody and security of non-citizens including observation of non-citizens.
• Perform security of various assigned areas.
• Perform specific security functions including ‘pat’ and ‘strip’ searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions. Also required to climb ladders or stairs in search of contraband.
• Transfer and transport non-citizens by walking or riding in vehicles. Restrain and secure assaultive non-citizens, as needed.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts and all posts assignments.
• Maintain the secure custody and security of non-citizens including observation of non-citizens, which includes long periods of standing and sitting.
• Required to make periodic rounds of assigned area which may include long periods of walking and standing.
