Job summary

Glynn County Government is seeking a Detention Officer for the Brunswick, GA Detention Center. You will maintain safety, security, and sanitation for inmates, staff, and the public while enforcing rules and procedures.

Responsibilities include processing inmates, housing assignments, supervising daily activities, security checks, and coordinating health and safety measures. Requires a high school diploma or GED; detention experience preferred.

Qualifications

• MINIMUM EDUCATION: A high school diploma or GED is required.
• EXPERIENCE: Experience in a detention or corrections environment is preferred.
• BACKGROUND: No felony convictions or significant misdemeanor convictions; pass background and motor vehicle checks.

Responsibilities

• Enforces detention center rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; maintains inmate discipline; maintains a secure and peaceful environment in the facility.
• Receives, processes, and books incoming inmates and arrestees; explains facility rules and records personal information; conducts fingerprinting and photography; assigns housing and issues clothing and hygiene items.
• Coordinates health, safety, and welfare of inmates; distributes meals and supplies; monitors activities; conducts security rounds and searches; responds to emergencies and mediates conflicts.
