The Detention Officer focus is on processing individuals when they arrive to the Detention Center while ensuring their safety and the safety of all in the facility in accordance with policy and procedure.
· The Detention Officer is responsible for searching arrested individuals who are brought into the facility by an arresting agency, documenting the arrestee's belongings by conducting an inventory
· The Detention Officer conducts an initial medical questionnaire for all arrested persons
· Should there be a medical issue, the Detention Officer is responsible for notifying the Lead Detention Officer
· The Detention Officer is responsible for reviewing the CCPD arrest reports for completeness and accuracy
· The Detention Officer is responsible for entering the arrest information and arrested persons information into the booking system
· The Detention Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety of the premises for all arrestees and others including individuals who may be combative
· Detention Officers must know all procedures and policies to maintain control of any person who may become violent
· Assist Police Officers to bring individuals into the facility when help is needed
· Create necessary incident reports
· Cell checks must be conducted to ensure that the arrestee is safe

· Responding and providing necessary medical assistance of the arrested person

· Detention Officers will take the arrestees before the magistrate Judge to be magistrated and ensure that all the arrestees magistration paperwork is complete and signed by the arrestee
· The detention Officer enters all arrested persons information and arrested details into the Public Safety Reporting System
· Perform booking procedures by fingerprinting individuals when arrested, when needed to complete a CR43 and ten print cards when arrested for an aggravated offense
· Detention Officers are responsible for transporting arrested persons to the Nueces County Jail
· Detention Officers will release those arrested persons who are given a Personal Bond
· May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

· High School Diploma / GED
· Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience
· CPR/First Aid Certification to be completed within a year of hire
· Successful completion of the TEEX Municipal Jailor certification within a year of hire
· A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
