Job summary

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office is recruiting a Detention Deputy to join the jail operations team in Anoka, MN. The role involves direct supervision of inmates, ensuring security and humane confinement, and handling intake and court-related supervision.

The position is full-time, on-site, with a schedule that includes weekends and holidays. Starting pay is $72,716.80 with a clear pay scale up to $102,107.20, plus benefits such as paid time off, holidays, medical and dental coverage, a pension

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent education.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to credibly testify in a court of law.
• Must undergo, and pass, a thorough physical and psychological examination and complete a background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise jail inmates and related activities.
• Maintain security and safety of facilities, inmates and employees by surveillance.
• Monitor cameras, alarms, doors and security controls.
• Interact with inmates by enforcing rules and facility regulations; conduct inmate counts and searches.
• Respond to emergencies and restore order and security.
• Mediate conflicts and deescalate tensions in housing units.
• Handle intake and release of inmates.
• Obtain pertinent information and credentials from arresting or escorting officers.
• Supervise recreational and visiting periods.
• Prepare written reports and logs of activities.
