Job summary

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is hiring Recruit Deputy Sheriff – Detention and Corrections. Recruits earn $34.15 per hour on day one and begin May 10, 2027 after completing a 13-week academy to become a Florida corrections officer. Expect 14 twelve-hour shifts per month and rotating schedules, including nights and holidays.

Incentives total up to $25,000, with relocation assistance and sign-on bonuses, plus substantial benefits and a structured training path to a certified deputy.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Meet Florida CJSTC standards and training requirements as authorized by F.S.S. 943.13.
• Pass the Detention and Corrections Academy and the Florida certification exam.

Responsibilities

• Attend a 13-week Correctional Basic Recruit academy at SEPSI.
• Complete academy with minimum 80% exam scores.
• Complete 3 weeks of high-liability training at PCSO; 10 weeks of Field Training with a FTO; rotate shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
