Job summary

Richland County Government is seeking a Detention Center Sergeant to supervise Detention Officers and coordinate daily operations within the detention facility to ensure safety, security, and orderly management of inmates, staff, and the facility.

The role involves assigning and monitoring work, preparing daily duty rosters, coordinating overtime coverage, and ensuring officers have the necessary resources and equipment. Work is performed under general supervision and company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of related work experience.
• Any combination of education and experience that meets the requirements for performing the essential functions of this job.
• Must possess a state driver’s license.
• Must pass a background check and drug test.
• Must complete the Criminal Justice Academy course.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
