Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of law enforcement experience. Basic P.O.S.T. Certification required.
  • Proficient in investigative report writing and documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and preserve evidence and investigative information.
  • Ability to conduct professional interviews and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability and willingness to take on challenging responsibilities and respond appropriately to critical incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations of inmate-related and personnel-related incidents involving OPSO personnel or individuals in custody.
  • Abide by the Constitution, laws, and OPSO policies.
  • Gather, preserve, and analyze evidence; review surveillance footage, reports, and related documentation.
  • Conduct interviews with witnesses, victims, involved parties, employees, individuals in custody, and others.
  • Maintain organized investigative files and prepare detailed reports of activities, evidence, interviews, findings, and conclusions.
  • Employ sound investigative techniques and analysis to identify critical issues and risks.
  • Work with Deputies, correctional staff, and OPSO divisions to address concerns and prevent incidents.
  • Coordinate with the District Attorney’s Office and other agencies for prosecution and provide necessary evidence and testimony.
  • Coordinate search and arrest warrants and arrest suspects as needed.
  • Testify in court regarding case evidence and investigative findings.
  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality of information and evidence.
