Job summary

QXO, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer – Detailer to produce accurate submittal packages for commercial doors, frames, and hardware. You will review drawings, prepare openings, and coordinate product data with project managers, vendors, and production teams.

The role emphasizes technical detailing, timely releases, and adherence to codes and customer specifications. Office-based with occasional travel to meet project needs, you will contribute to our continued growth in North America.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field preferred.
• Minimum three years of detailing, project engineering, or submittal experience in the commercial doors, frames, and hardware industry.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam or similar PDF markup software.
• Experience with Comsense Advantage preferred.
• DHI training or industry certifications are highly desirable.
• Knowledge of electrified hardware, access control systems, ADA requirements, and life-safety codes is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, door schedules, hardware sets, and manufacturer templates.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, and door schedules to prepare submittal packages.
• Produce accurate submittal packages for doors, frames, and hardware.
• Prepare opening schedules and hardware sets with data sheets and elevations.
• Verify quantities, dimensions, handings, fire ratings, and finishes in project documents.
• Coordinate compatibility between hollow-metal frames, doors, and hardware.
• Support purchasing and production with complete fabrication information.
• Review documents for conflicts, substitutions, and scope gaps; issue RFIs as needed.
• Maintain organized document control and revision history throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams and customers.
