Job summary

Nucor Rebar Fabrication Midwest in Newton, IA, seeks a Detailer/AutoCAD Drafter with rebar experience to develop detailed drawings using RebarCAD and AutoCAD. You will verify specifications, manage contractual information, and prepare material lists for complex projects, working with site personnel and engineering teams.

Candidate requirements include a CAD drafting certificate and at least four years of rebar detailing experience.

Qualifications

• Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting from an accredited school or college or equivalent training/experience.
• At least four years of experience detailing rebar using a CAD-based detailing system.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Ability to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Verify drawings, dates, specifications, addenda and other contractual information from routing sheets or business systems.
• Detail accessories, mesh, couplers and dowel bars and prepare material lists.
• Generate reports in the business system to assist in project management.
• Enter all drawings for submission in the drawing tracking system.

Develop a high level of competence with Nucor's detailing system (Rebar CAD). Develop a total understanding of Nucor's business system as it relates to detailing and managing project contracts. Develop the ability to independently detail more complex projects. Begin managing contractual issues relating to assigned projects.

Basic Job Functions:

• Must adhere to Nucor's safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor's vision and values.
• Continue developing skills with RebarCAD (i.e. building library routines for reuse in future projects, develop an ability to detail in paper space/model space in RebarCAD).
• Verify drawings, dates, specifications, addenda and other contractual information from the routing sheet or directly from the business system.
• Identify and develop information required to inform the customer of any changes to the contract. Work with little supervision to address changes with customer, produce change-order document and enter into business system.
• Detail accessories, mesh, couplers and dowel bars and prepare material lists as required.
• Work with job site personnel to determine project requirements for detailing and delivery of material.
• Communicate with the A/E, steel placer and customer on all questions relating to project.
• Address Contract Adds and Deduct. Include supervisor for more complex requirements.
• Generate required reports in the business system to assist in management of project(s).
• Enter all drawings for submission in drawing tracking system.
• Perform other duties as required by your supervisor.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting issued from an accredited school or college, or equivalent combination of training and work experience
• At least four years of experience detailing rebar using a CAD based detailing system

Preferences:

• Two year technical degree from an accredited school or college
• Construction and concrete related construction knowledge and experience
• Working knowledge of industry reference material (i.e. CRSI and ACI)
