Job summary

Nucor Rebar Fabrication Midwest in Newton, IA, is seeking a CAD Detailer to develop and manage rebar detailing projects using RebarCAD. You will build library routines, ensure accuracy in drawings, and support contract management with minimal supervision.

The role emphasizes adherence to safety, collaboration with site personnel, and ongoing skill development in Nucor’s detailing system to handle increasingly complex projects.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting or equivalent work experience.
• At least four years of experience detailing rebar using a CAD-based detailing system.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety programs and standards as directed by Nucor.
• Detail rebar, mesh, couplers and dowel bars using RebarCAD.
• Verify drawings, specs, and addenda from routing sheets or business system.
• Communicate with A/E, steel placer and customer on project questions.
• Prepare material lists and manage change orders with minimal supervision.

Purpose

Develop a high level of competence with Nucor’s detailing system (Rebar CAD). Develop a total understanding of Nucor’s business system as it relates to detailing and managing project contracts. Develop the ability to independently detail more complex projects. Begin managing contractual issues relating to assigned projects.

Basic Job Functions

• Must adhere to Nucor’s safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor’s vision and values.
• Continue developing skills with RebarCAD (i.e. building library routines for reuse in future projects, develop an ability to detail in paper space/model space in RebarCAD).
• Verify drawings, dates, specifications, addenda and other contractual information from the routing sheet or directly from the business system.
• Identify and develop information required to inform the customer of any changes to the contract. Work with little supervision to address changes with customer, produce change-order document and enter into business system.
• Detail accessories, mesh, couplers and dowel bars and prepare material lists as required.
• Work with job site personnel to determine project requirements for detailing and delivery of material.
• Communicate with the A/E, steel placer and customer on all questions relating to project.
• Address Contract Adds and Deduct. Include supervisor for more complex requirements.
• Generate required reports in the business system to assist in management of project(s).
• Enter all drawings for submission in drawing tracking system.
• Perform other duties as required by your supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting issued from an accredited school or college, or equivalent combination of training and work experience
• At least four years of experience detailing rebar using a CAD based detailing system

Preferences

• Two year technical degree from an accredited school or college
• Construction and concrete related construction knowledge and experience
• Working knowledge of industry reference material (i.e. CRSI and ACI)
