Nucor Corporation in Newton, IA is seeking a Detailer/AutoCAD Drafter with rebar experience to join our Rebar Fabrication Midwest division. You will develop detailed rebar drawings using RebarCAD and AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery for complex projects.

The role emphasizes safety, collaboration with A/E and customers, and continuous skill development, including building library routines and working from routing sheets in the business system.

Qualifications

• At least four years of experience detailing rebar using a CAD based detailing system.
• Vocational CAD design/drafting coursework or certificate required.
• Two year technical degree preferred; construction and concrete knowledge a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Nucor safety programs and standards.
• Verify drawings, dates, specifications, addenda from routing sheets or business system.
• Detail accessories, mesh, couplers and dowel bars; prepare material lists.
• Collaborate with job site personnel to determine detailing requirements for delivery of material.
• Communicate with A/E, steel placer and customers on project questions.
• Enter all drawings for submission in drawing tracking system; generate project reports.
• Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

Develop a high level of competence with Nucor’s detailing system (Rebar CAD). Develop a total understanding of Nucor’s business system as it relates to detailing and managing project contracts. Develop the ability to independently detail more complex projects. Begin managing contractual issues relating to assigned projects.

Basic Job Functions:

• Must adhere to Nucor’s safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor’s vision and values.
• Continue developing skills with RebarCAD (i.e. building library routines for reuse in future projects, develop an ability to detail in paper space/model space in RebarCAD).
• Verify drawings, dates, specifications, addenda and other contractual information from the routing sheet or directly from the business system.
• Identify and develop information required to inform the customer of any changes to the contract. Work with little supervision to address changes with customer, produce change-order document and enter into business system.
• Detail accessories, mesh, couplers and dowel bars and prepare material lists as required.
• Work with job site personnel to determine project requirements for detailing and delivery of material.
• Communicate with the A/E, steel placer and customer on all questions relating to project.
• Address Contract Adds and Deduct. Include supervisor for more complex requirements.
• Generate required reports in the business system to assist in management of project(s).
• Enter all drawings for submission in drawing tracking system.
• Perform other duties as required by your supervisor.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting issued from an accredited school or college, or equivalent combination of training and work experience
• At least four years of experience detailing rebar using a CAD based detailing system

Preferences:

• Two year technical degree from an accredited school or college
• Construction and concrete related construction knowledge and experience
• Working knowledge of industry reference material (i.e. CRSI and ACI)
