Basic Job Functions

American Buildings Company, a Nucor Company, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Steel Detailer/BIM Modeler at our facility in El Paso, IL. This is an entry-level position. Responsibilities include detailing all components of a custom metal building system, including steel framing, wall and roof panels, flashings, and trims, ensuring proper fit as part of a complete design. Tasks include:

• Creating construction anchor bolt drawings
• Creating permit/approval drawings
• Creating electronic 3D models using 3D drafting software
• Creating shop drawings and reports for fabrication and production
• Creating erection drawings and bill of materials for field use

Safety is paramount; candidates must demonstrate the ability to uphold safety policies and standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associates Degree or two-year vocational certification in architecture, drafting, construction management, or engineering technology, or 3+ years of CAD experience
• Basic math, geometry, and trigonometry skills
• Legal authorization to work in the US (no visa sponsorship needed)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CAD software
• Experience with Tekla Structures or similar 3D modeling software
• Prior metal building detailing experience
• Leadership experience
