Job summary

Jim Burke Ford Lincoln in Bakersfield, CA is seeking an attentive Detailer to prepare vehicles for sale by washing, vacuuming, and restoring interior, exterior, and under-hood cosmetics, plus conditioning, waxing, and applying fabric protection.

You will drive vehicles as needed, assist with minor parts, maintain a clean shop, and deliver world-class customer service in a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

  • Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer and internet skills.

  • Experience in a similar role is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Washes and conditions vehicle exterior, including tires, wheels, under-carriage, and under-hood components and waxing/buffing
  • Cleans and conditions vehicle interior, including vacuuming, shampooing, applying fabric/leather treatments, and polishing
  • Inspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical operation
  • Ensures that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored
  • Helps maintain shop appearance and safety standards and ensures the shop runs in an efficient manner by performing duties such as inventory stocking and other general functions
  • Follows all shop policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules
  • Performs other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, detailing experience, a general mechanical aptitude, an unrestricted driver's license, and a clean driving record. Candidates must be able to drive both automatic and standard transmission vehicles and work productively in a fast-paced team environment and must have a positive attitude, professional appearance, great communication skills, basic computer skills, and the ability to deliver world class customer service.

Detail Weekly Schedules

Our detail department supports our sales department. Sales is open 7 days a week, which means we need detailers 7 days a week.

The department is open M-F 8am-6pm, Saturday 9am-6pm and Sunday 10am - 5pm.
