Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking a Quality Control Inspector II/UKG Detail Lane Leader for an on-site, daytime role in Matteson, IL. You will inspect vehicles, coordinate workflow, and ensure quality standards are met.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with several years of related experience, valid driver’s license, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as bending and kneeling. Benefits include comprehensive PTO and holidays.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, with related field experience.
  • Alternative: any level degree/certification beyond HS in a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of related field experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required and drive flexibility (manual/automatic).
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel and lean for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles to ensure repairs/work are completed satisfactorily.
  • Coordinate workflow to finish vehicles on time per quality standards.
  • Monitor process to ensure SOPs are followed properly.
  • Ensure PPE and safety equipment are available and staff trained.
  • Charge services against vehicles accurately.
  • Monitor and control use of supplies and equipment; coordinate replenishment.
  • Assist Supervisor with safety guidelines and OSHA/EPA compliance.
  • Demonstrate safety commitment and model safe behaviors.
  • Support safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Drive vehicles to staging areas and assist on sale days as needed.

Compensation

Hourly base pay rate is $18.22 - $27.36/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Job Description
Job Responsibilities
  • Inspect vehicles to ensure the required repairs and work is satisfactorily completed.
  • Coordinate the workflow to ensure all vehicles are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established Manheim quality standards.
  • Monitor process and work being performed to ensure SOP’s are being followed properly.
  • Ensure the appropriate PPE and safety equipment is available and employees are properly trained in their use.
  • Responsible for ensuring all services are performed and appropriately charged against the vehicle.
  • Monitor and control the use of supplies, materials, and equipment for the Detail Shop, and coordinate the replenishment process.
  • Assist the Supervisor in the monitoring and implementing guidelines for a safe work environment and achieve compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling those behaviors.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, including driving vehicles into building and to proper clean car staging area, occasional sale day driving.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field.
  • OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline.
  • OR 5 years’ experience in a related field
  • Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • While you won’t need to do any crazy folk dancing, you must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, squat, and lean for extended periods.
Preferred

Basic knowledge of auto detailing, paint application processes, and associated repair procedures (preferred but not required).

To be employed in this role, you’ll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. Benefits

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
