Overview

The Detail Sheet Metal Operator Trainee is an entry-level position. Trainees will learn to perform manual blending, trimming, grinding, and polishing on parts and components using various manual tools, following manufacturing drawings (blueprints). They will work under supervision and assist in deburring, graining, tumbling, and cleaning sheet metal or machined parts, as well as operate equipment, conduct in-process inspections, and prioritize safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate safety equipment and maintain safe work habits.
  • Keep the work area clean and safe.
  • Learn to select appropriate tools and attachments, and set controls.
  • Perform manual blending, trimming, and grinding.
  • Inspect finished work and monitor equipment for flaws.
  • Dispose of scrap and waste according to policies and regulations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • At least 2 years of consistent work experience; related experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Arm-Hand Steadiness
  • Finger and Manual Dexterity
  • Ability to exert force up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and reach frequently
  • Near vision, concentration, and environmental awareness
Preferred Tools and Technology
  • Personal computers
  • Experience with grinders, sanders, circulars, and vibrating hand tools
Work Clothing and PPE
  • Safety glasses and closed-toe safety shoes required

Days: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 7:30 pm
Evening: Monday - Thursday, 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm
