The General, a subsidiary of Sentry Insurance, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Claims Adjuster to investigate and manage property and casualty insurance claims. This role involves determining liability, gathering and reviewing information, assessing coverage, coordinating appraisals, and negotiating claim settlements efficiently and fairly.

This role will be filled following our hybrid work model at our offices in Nashville, TN; Goldsboro, NC; El Paso, TX; Alpharetta, GA; Tampa, FL; Davenport, IA; or Stevens Point, WI.

What You'll Do

As an Auto Claims Liability Adjuster, you will:

  • Investigate the origin and cause of claims by contacting appropriate parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, the special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel, etc.
  • Identify complex issues and seek assistance as needed. Handle claims in good faith.
  • Handle both 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
  • Coordinate on-site inspections when needed, evaluate damages, and handle claim negotiations with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.
  • Interpret policies, declarations, articles, and contract coverages, applying them to assigned losses.
  • Proactively communicate claim processes and statuses to all parties; answer questions or redirect as appropriate.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, make decisions, and close files as needed.
What it Takes
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state-specific property and casualty claims licensing.
  • Solid knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages or equivalent knowledge.
  • Experience handling moderately complex claims or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across various territories or equivalent experience.
  • Providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service experience.
