BJU Press is seeking a DesignOps Coordinator to support the Art & Design team by organizing art workflows, tracking schedules, and coordinating artists.   • 2+ years of experience in project coordination, scheduling, or production support.
  • Proficiency with project management or scheduling tools.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills essential.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain art schedules and deadlines across projects.
  • Coordinate outsourced illustrators, track costs, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Prepare instructions and files for external illustrators.
  • Monitor progress and update teams to align with milestones.
  • Assist with resource planning by tracking in-house illustrators.
  • Liaise with Operations & Project Management for updates.
  • Refine DesignOps processes and documentation.
  • Perform administrative and task-tracking duties as assigned.

About the Team: The Art & Design team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by creating visually engaging, high-quality educational materials that enhance learning while upholding biblical truth and values. Core functions of the department include concept development, layout and typography, cover and branding design, illustration coordination, and production for educational resources. Through creativity and excellence, the team ensures that every design element effectively communicates and supports the transformational learning experience that BJU Press provides.


ROLE SUMMARY: As a/an DesignOps Coordinator at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a supporting role on the Art & Design team by facilitating art and photo tracking and artist coordination. This role ensures that art schedules are maintained, resources are aligned with workload demands, and communication across the department remains clear and proactive. The DesignOps Coordinator contributes to team efficiency and capacity by organizing art workflows and monitoring execution against deadlines and budgets.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The DesignOps Coordinator will…



  • maintain accurate art schedules and deadlines for both in-house and outsourced art assignments across multiple projects

  • support designers in identifying, onboarding, and coordinating outsourced illustrators, including tracking costs and ensuring timely delivery

  • assist in preparing instructions and files for external illustrators

  • track art development progress and update design teams, project coordinators, and artists to ensure alignment with milestones

  • monitor the availability and assignment load of in-house illustrators to assist with resource planning across design teams

  • act as a liaison with the Operations & Project Management department to provide progress updates

  • refine and maintain DesignOps process documentation for workflow improvements

  • perform administrative and task-tracking duties as assigned by the DesignOps Manager

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Associate’s degree with 2+ years of relevant coordination or administrative experience, or equivalent demonstrated aptitude

  • 2+ years of experience in project coordination, scheduling, or a related production support role

  • Proficiency with project management or scheduling tools

  • Working knowledge of design or illustration workflows preferred

  • Strong organizational and communication skills essential for managing timelines and vendor coordination

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team efficiency and collaboration
