Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Designer V, Mechanical Oil & Gas to join our team in Houston. Produce mechanical design deliverables to complete project scopes as part of a multi-disciplinary team and lead the design effort for projects of all sizes with minimal supervision.

You will coordinate with engineers, prepare CAD drawings and BOMs, support equipment sizing and analyses, and present designs to stakeholders. Ten+ years of experience and strong communication are required.

Purpose

Produce mechanical design deliverables to complete project scopes of work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and designers. Lead the design effort for projects of all sizes with minimal supervision. The role consists of frequent inter-organizational and customer interaction. Additionally, you will be engaged to participate in project scoping, planning, status reporting and scope management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides computer aided design (CAD) drafting, prepares drawings and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, vendor data, and sketches.
  • Coordinates and consults with engineers or other designers to complete projects, ensuring adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Support equipment sizing & selection, alternative analyses, and other deliverables.
  • Support the engineering, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of facilities.
  • Present design deliverables to project members, cross-functional teams, senior leadership, external vendors, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Plan, forecast, and actualize deliverable progress to support project reporting and schedule requirements.
  • Identify scope changes and estimate impact to effort and schedule.
  • Supports proposal efforts by evaluating RFP scope, identifying list of deliverables, and estimating effort required.
  • Monitors progress and performance against the project plan.
  • Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
  • Works autonomously.
  • Prepares, reviews, and approves mechanical equipment and piping BOMs and designs.

Qualifications

Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Partially indoor professional office environment which may exposure to include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
