Job description

Insomniac is looking for a new Designer. In this role, you will be responsible for developing designs for systems for an assigned project and implementing these designs in the game.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Creates clear and concise written technical documentation, visual design materials, and verbal presentations that describe layout, content, mechanics, systems, and features.
  2. Designs and develops player interactions and systems (including combat, navigation, progression, and economy) for a single-player environment.
  3. Technical scripting and hands-on implementation within the editor.
  4. Develops and implements game systems such as economy, balance, progression, ambient features, and/or game-wide player activities.
  5. Implements gameplay and game structure; collaborates with the Gameplay Programming team to meet discipline goals and deadlines.
  6. Coordinates with multiple departments on the progress of missions or features and updates the team as needed through various mediums.
  7. Addresses bugs and gameplay issues to ensure a stable and polished product.
  8. Assesses progress, quality, and user-friendliness of the project via usability testing, focus tests, and in-house play tests.
  9. Provides constructive feedback on all aspects of the product; identifies opportunities to increase quality and advises on future implementations.
  10. Helps establish consistent gameplay implementation by defining best practices, processes, standards, and conventions for the design team.
  11. Develops and implements game systems such as economy, balance, progression, ambient features, and/or game-wide player activities.
  12. Familiarity with Excel, Visual Scripting, Houdini, and Python scripting is a plus.

At SIE, compensation is determined based on market data, geographic location, and individual factors such as skills and experience. This role offers benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance. The estimated hourly pay range is $50.96 - $63.94 USD.
