Job summary

TKDA is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join a multi-disciplin ed engineering team delivering design services for heavy industrial sectors. You will assist with drafting and design of mechanical systems, preparing drawings using AutoCAD and Revit, and performing basic mechanical calculations.

The position is based in Bloomington, MN with flexible hybrid work arrangements (three days in the office, two days remotely).

Qualifications

• Associate degree in architectural technology, engineering technology, mechanical/building system design, CAD technology, or related field.
• Four or more years of progressive experience designing industrial mechanical systems with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

In this position, you will also be responsible for performing basic mechanical calculations and completing redline revisions.

Location and Work Arrangement

This position could be based out of Duluth, MN or Bloomington, MN; however, candidates must reside within regular commuting distance from one of the two locations. TKDA offers flexible hybrid work arrangements, with employees typically working three days in the office and two days remotely, in alignment with business needs. Travel (less than 10%) to other TKDA offices, project or client locations, and may be required.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in architectural technology, engineering technology, mechanical / building system design, CAD technology, or related field.
• Four or more years of progressive experience designing industrial mechanical systems combined with a high proficiency of AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Advantageous Qualifications

• Previous experience with layout of ductwork and piping systems in a 3D environment.
• Previous experience with layout of industrial systems such as process piping and ductwork.
• Previous experience with mechanical design.
• Familiarity with process flow diagrams, process piping diagrams, and/or piping & instrumentation diagrams.
• Experience with Plant 3D and SolidWorks

The listed salary range reflects only the starting base pay range for candidates with 4-10 years of related experience in our Duluth, Minnesota office. Compensation is determined based on technical skills, experience level, and qualifications. Candidates with more experience or different compensation expectations are encouraged to apply. All candidates are evaluated on the full scope of what they bring to the role. - The base compensation range for this position out of our Bloomington, MN would be $70,000 - $82,000.
