Job description

At GameTime, we believe play has the power to inspire, connect, and strengthen communities. Through our family of companies, we bring together creative thinking, technical expertise, and a shared commitment to creating spaces where people of all abilities can move, explore, learn, and belong.

Our work takes imagination and turns it into something real: thoughtfully designed products that invite discovery, encourage physical activity, and create lasting opportunities for connection. Behind every experience is a team of people who take pride in the details and see purpose in what they build.

We’re looking for people who bring curiosity, craftsmanship, and sound judgment to their work. At GameTime, great ideas have a place to grow, and the work you do can make a difference well beyond the drawing board.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

This Designer position supports GameTime and works with a cross-functional product development team based at the Southern Fulfillment Center in Fort Payne, Alabama. You’ll collaborate with Product Management, Design Technicians, Drafting, Manufacturing, and Testing to take playground components from concept to finished product.

Together, the team balances creative possibilities with safety, functionality, durability, inclusion, and the realities of manufacturing.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

GameTime is seeking a creative, motivated Designer who can combine childlike imagination with engineering-level precision. The ideal candidate can develop original playground components while making thoughtful decisions about safety, product function, inclusive design, materials, and manufacturability.

You’ll be comfortable owning projects from concept through completion, working through technical challenges with others, and delivering accurate designs on schedule in a fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
Skills and Competencies
  • A four-year degree in industrial or mechanical design, or equivalent experience in these areas.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for design work and layouts, including the ability to develop accurate models.
  • A strong work ethic, reliability, adaptability, and the ability to work well with others.
  • The ability to execute project briefs and meet product release deadlines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • An interest in learning new technologies and developing design skills.
  • The ability to perform the essential functions of the position, which may involve field installation of new products, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Experience that would be especially valuable:

  • Proficiency in graphic design and rendering software such as Adobe Creative Suite and KeyShot.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing materials and methods.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

From early sketches to production-ready assemblies, you’ll help shape the playgrounds of tomorrow. Your work will turn imaginative concepts into practical, safe, inclusive products that can be manufactured and installed in real-world spaces.

  • Use Autodesk Inventor and other required software tools to produce accurate concept models and final production models.
  • Help develop new and custom commercial playground products using metal tubing, rotationally molded plastic, routed polyethylene, cable, and sheet metal.
  • Apply knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods to new product designs.
  • Develop product concepts into finalized models and assemblies used to generate shop drawings and installation manuals.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on safety compliance, product function, and inclusive design.
  • Produce manufacturable designs within demanding timelines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Provide project input to Design Technicians and Drafters and review their output for accuracy.
  • Study models, build prototypes, and participate in playground installations to deepen knowledge of GameTime products.
HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF PLAY
