F.E. Moran Group of Companies in Northbrook, IL is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Systems Designer to join our upgraded Northbrook office. Grow with a leading team while applying your design skills across diverse projects.

You will use Hydratec, AutoSprink, or AutoCAD to create code-compliant designs, perform hydraulic calculations, and coordinate layouts with other trades. NICET certification and a Mechanical Engineering background are valued.

Qualifications

• Experience using fire protection design software (Hydratec, AutoSprink, or AutoCAD) and understanding NFPA codes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience; NICET III/IV is a plus.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities with hydraulic calculation experience.
• Able to read construction blueprints and coordinate with teams.

If yes, then bring your talent and skills as to F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems! We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Fire Protection Systems Designer, located in our newly renovated Northbrook, IL office. As our company continues to expand, we want you to grow and develop with us!

You Are:

• EXPERIENCED: Experience using Fire Protection design software such as Hydratec, AutoSprink, and/or AutoCad; understand and comply with NFPA standards and other applicable federal, state, and local codes
• KNOWLEDGEABLE: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree; or equivalent relevant experience; NICET Level III or IV certification
• ANALYTICAL: Critical thinker with mathematical aptitude; strong attention to detail; good working knowledge of hydraulic calculations; ability to read and understand construction blueprints
• ADAPTABLE: Quickly adjusts to a changing environment; successfully manages priorities under time constraints
• FLEXIBILE: Available as needed; able to travel to client sites when necessary

What You’ll Do:

• PROVIDE: Utilize expertise in fire protection systems design to complete a successful installation, providing a quality product that pleases the client
• KEEP TO CODE: Accurately and thoroughly prepare code compliant fire protection system designs within stipulated timeframes for a variety of fire protection projects
• PREPARE: Produce fire sprinkler design drawings that maximize efficiency, meet code compliance and industry standards and specifications; hydraulic calculations to determine pipe sizes
• COORDINATE: Layout pipe and sprinkler locations with building components and other trades
