Job summary

A leading design firm in North Carolina is seeking a Designer (II) to create construction grade detailed design drawings related to electro-mechanical systems of electrical substations. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience and be proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. This role requires developing plans according to project specifications and may involve site travel to collect necessary data. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on design standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a 2 year degree or high school diploma with extensive experience.
• Expertise in CADD software required.
• Experience in electro-mechanical systems design needed.

Responsibilities

• Create construction grade detailed design drawings for electrical substations.
• Develop construction plans according to project specifications and design standards.
• Occasionally travel to jobsites for data collection.

Job description

Utilizes CADD software to create construction grade detailed design drawings related to electro-mechanical systems of electrical substations. A Designer (II) should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the industry, and should be comfortable functioning independently, as well as in a team environment. On a daily basis, a designer (II) will spend the majority of the day developing construction plans and details, according to project and customer specifications, national and local design codes and standards. A Designer (II) is sometimes asked to travel to jobsites to collect data necessary to complete their design drawing packages, or to assist in the preparation of a bid package.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a 2 year degree in design, engineering, or engineering technology (or related field) or a high school diploma and 4 years of relevant work experience.
• Expertise in the use of AutoCAD and / or MicroStation.
