Columbus McKinnon is seeking a Designer, Controls to design and fabricate control systems based on technical drawings and develop diagrams using CAD. You will create drawings from specifications and work with engineers to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.

The role involves preparing bills of materials, collaborating cross-functionally to improve processes, and resolving engineering issues in fabrication and service, while observing safety and electrical codes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate Degree or Technical school coursework preferred.
  • 1+ year experience with electrical systems or manufacturing.
  • 1+ year experience working with CAD Electrical.

Job description

The Designer, Controls is responsible for designing and fabricating control systems based on technical drawings. This position develops diagrams using CAD.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create drawings from written and verbal specifications.
  • Partner with engineers regarding project accuracy, design, standards, and design documentation.
  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Create bills of materials that include control enclosure, components, and wire.
  • Act as a technical resource for internal and external customers.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity, and quality, while reducing costs.
  • Resolve any engineering issues as they arise in fabrication, assembly, and service.
  • Partner with production as a technical resource.
  • Observe safety procedures and meet electrical codes.

  • Knowledge of CAD and Microsoft Software.
Required Qualifications
