Job summary

ABA Studios is seeking a Designer to join our growing firm. We are an award-winning architecture, planning and interior design studio delivering high-quality services for over 40 years.

Our team works on education and health projects and embraces a flexible, hybrid schedule with in-office days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, alongside ongoing professional development and licensure support.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Architecture or a Master of Architecture required.
  • 3+ years architectural experience with education and healthcare projects preferred.
  • Experience with CA education (DSA) and/or Health & Wellness (OSHPD/HCAI) preferred.
  • Licensed Architect in CA or pursuing license preferred.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technically sound contract documents from design through construction.
  • Apply building codes and standards to projects.
  • Ensure design intent is reflected across all phases.
  • Coordinate with consultants throughout design and construction.
  • Prepare jurisdictional submittals and liaise with authorities.

ABA Studios is currently seeking a Designer to join our growing firm.

Your key responsibilities and opportunities may include:

  • Active participation in the development of a set of technically sound and accurate Contract Documents from the early design phases through construction administration
  • Understanding, identifying, and applying relevant building codes and standards
  • Executing a design by ensuring design documentation is in concert with the design intent through all project phases
  • Coordinating with consultant team through all phases of design and construction
  • Performing jurisdictional submittals and interacting effectively with jurisdictional personnel

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must have a BA/BS in Architecture from a 4/5 year program or a Masters of Architecture
  • 3+ years of architectural experience with recent experience education and healthcare
  • Recent Experience in Education (DSA) and/or Health & Wellness (OSHPD/HCAI) preferred
  • Licensed Architect in California or those actively pursuing license preferred
  • LEED accreditation preferred
  • Experience in sustainable design, integrated design and LEED guidelines preferred
  • Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task between projects and maintain organization in a changing environment
  • Working knowledge of building codes and other regulatory requirements
  • Working knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, adhere to budgetary goals and provide high quality service to clients
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
