Job summary

Metro Engineering Solutions, LLC (MES) is seeking a Designer to join our team. The Designer will provide design services for power utility clients, focusing on overhead and underground transmission and distribution projects across the Midwest.

Responsibilities include interpreting maps with ESRI/Google Earth, collaborating with customers, attending project meetings, performing field scoping, and preparing construction orders under the guidance of the Project Manager.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in technical or design field preferred.
• Minimum two years in electrical utility planning preferred.
• Experience with overhead/underground design services preferred.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with internal/external personnel.

JOB SUMMARY:

Metro Engineering Solutions, LLC (“MES”) is looking for a Designer to join our team! MES is a multifaceted utility and telecommunications engineering firm serving clients throughout the Midwest. The Designer is responsible for working effectively in a variety of computer systems and software applications while providing power utility clients with design services and solutions needed to accurately construct OH/UG services.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Understand overhead distribution and specifications of our client’s needs to develop the appropriate design solution(s).
• Collaborate with prospective, residential, and commercial customers if needed on behalf of client if requested.
• Participates in job specific meetings with client, customer, or project team.
• Conduct appropriate field visits and support scoping of jobs in compliance with design standards.
• Select and interpret data, on a map-based platform such as ESRI/Google Earth.
• Advise customers and other contractors of standards relating to new and/or upgraded service requirements for secondary.
• Write construction orders for both overhead/underground secondary jobs.
• Other duties as assigned by Project Manager.

Work Environment And Physical Demands

• Interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
• Primarily work in an office setting.
• Ability to travel and/or work in the field as needed.

Requirements
