Job summary

SMCC is seeking a qualified Design Trade Instructor to join the Architectural and Engineering Design faculty in South Portland, ME. The full-time role involves teaching, curriculum development, student advising, and industry engagement to prepare students for careers in design and technical fields.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 3+ years in architectural, mechanical, or engineering design, and experience with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree OR 10+ years of work experience in a trade, preferably with trade-recognized certification(s) and credential(s).
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in architectural, mechanical, or engineering design industries.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality instruction in architectural, mechanical, and engineering design courses.
• Advise and mentor students in academic and career planning.
• Develop and revise curriculum to meet industry standards and accreditation requirements.
• Maintain industry engagement to ensure program relevance and student opportunities.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support interdisciplinary learning.
