Position Overview: This role involves active skill development in component design and truss layout. The trainee will complete a comprehensive 16-week training program, including online, classroom, and hands-on learning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Complete all phases of the Truss Designer training program under the supervision of a design manager.
2. Assist in preparing roof and/or floor truss designs by interpreting blueprints and consulting with sales or customers.
3. Calculate plan dimensions and input design parameters using specialized software.
4. Review plans with experienced designers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
5. Create truss placement layouts for construction.
6. Support job site activities as needed, in collaboration with sales associates or senior designers.
7. Learn pricing strategies and assist in drafting bid proposals.
8. Prepare for certification tests required for the role.
9. After training, be capable of designing simple, accurate one-story structures.

Qualifications:

Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in construction or design. Prior shop or construction experience is preferred; framing experience is a plus.
