Overview
The Design Technician 2 is responsible for assisting experienced designers and project teams in preparing and coordinating project deliverables and assisting less experienced designers as required.
Responsibilities
- Prepares project drawings.
- Uses CAD / BIM skills.
- Coordinates with document control personnel.
- Uses the electrical engineering web site to access department guides and standards.
- Utilizes Engineering Document Management System (EDMS) to access all project documents.
Qualifications
Formal Education:
This position requires:
- Hands-on or classes using design/drafting tools, such as CAD / BIM.
- Extensive knowledge of CAD / BIM software.
- Familiar with electrical discipline web site and knows how to find department guides and standards.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Effectively operates computer software, including MS Office Suite of products (i.e., databases, spreadsheets, project management software, Outlook, etc.) to prepare reports and correspondence.
- Skilled in, MS SharePoint, AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Acrobat, AcroPlot Pro and EDMS.
Abilities
- Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
- Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.

- Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
- Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
