Job summary

Magnolia River in Huntsville, AL is hiring Design Technicians Levels 1-3 to help bring natural gas pipeline projects to life. You will create maps, blueprints, and as-built documentation using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D to support pipeline design.

This role emphasizes collaboration with project teams, permitting support, data management, and meeting deadlines, with travel as needed. A Associate degree or equivalent is required, and experience with gas piping design is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience with natural gas pipeline drafting and piping design preferred.
  • Prior internship experience at Magnolia River is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed maps, blueprints, and as-built docs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Support permitting, material quantity analysis, and red-line changes.
  • Edit, review, and manage digital mapping data to CAD standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams and leadership to meet expectations.

Compensation: $20.00 to $26.00 per hour depending on your skills and years of experience

What You'll Do:
  • Create & Innovate - Develop detailed maps, blueprints, and as-built documentation using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D to support pipeline design.
  • Support Engineering Excellence - Assist with permitting, material quantity analysis, and red-line changes to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Ensure Quality - Edit, review, and manage digital mapping data, maintaining accuracy and adhering to CAD standards.
  • Collaborate & Communicate - Work alongside project teams and leadership to ensure deliverables meet expectations.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve - Take initiative, contribute innovative ideas, and continuously develop your skills to advance your career.
  • Meet Deadlines & Goals - Manage multiple projects efficiently while maintaining billable targets.
What You Bring:
  • Technical Expertise - A strong understanding of engineering design principles, material properties, and construction methods.
  • Software Skills - Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and Adobe (GIS and ESRI ArcMAP experience is a plus).
  • Attention to Detail - Ability to ensure accuracy in designs, maintain company CAD standards, and manage project data efficiently.
  • Time Management - Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Flexibility & Initiative - Willingness to travel, work overtime when needed, and adapt to evolving project needs.
Your Background:
  • Associate degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience with natural gas pipeline drafting and piping design is preferred.
  • Prior internship experience at Magnolia River is a plus.
