Job summary

Dogwood Industries is seeking an experienced Design Supervisor to lead our CAD Design team and support engineering, manufacturing, and project execution across multiple projects. In this role, you will oversee drawing production, quality control, design standards, and team development while serving as the primary link between the Design team and Design Manager.

Based at the Dogwood Sedro-Woolley Factory, WA, this in-office role requires a degree in CAD or engineering tech, 5+ years CAD design

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's in CAD, Engineering Tech, or related field.
  • 5+ years CAD design experience with 2+ years in leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of AISC standards, structural steel construction practices, and applicable building codes.
  • Strong understanding of AWS code.
  • Experience with structural steel, fabrication, and/or construction-related design.
  • Knowledge of PDM systems, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

General Job Description

Dogwood Industries is seeking an experienced Design Supervisor to lead our CAD Design team and support engineering, manufacturing, and project execution across multiple projects. In this role, you will oversee drawing production, quality control, design standards, and team development while serving as the primary link between the Design team and Design Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direction, lead, mentor, and develop a team of CAD designers.
  • Produce, review and deliver accurate, complete and timely SolidWorks models, fabrication drawings, and design documentation.
  • Manage workloads, schedules, and design resources to meet project deadlines.
  • Oversee design requests and coordinate priorities with Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Project Management.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across all CAD deliverables.
  • Communicate schedule concerns and technical issues to management.
  • Develop and maintain design standards, SOPs, templates, and seed model libraries.
  • Identify potential fabrication, erection, and constructability issues before drawings are released for production.
  • Oversee BOM releases and support ERP part setup and standardization efforts.
  • Conduct design reviews and manage drawing revision requests from production.
  • Serve as a technical resource to manufacturing teams and help resolve design-related issues.
  • Assist in developing KPI’s and a visual management system.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and customer focus with design and detailing processes, standards, templates, and workflows.

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in CAD, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of CAD design experience and 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks.
  • Working knowledge of AISC standards, structural steel construction practices, and applicable building codes.
  • Strong understanding of AWS code
  • Experience with structural steel, fabrication, and/or construction-related design.
  • Knowledge of PDM systems, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

This position requires moderate physical activity, primarily in an office environment but may include visits to the manufacturing facilities or jobsites to collaborate and inspect materials. To perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly seated at a computer desk with the option to stand, is utilizing the telephone frequently, and participating in meetings with colleagues, clients, third party vendors, etc. There are stairs in the office. In the factory setting, you may inspect and handle materials and be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors.

Compensation

$100,000 - $130,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Location

This position is based out of the Dogwood Sedro-Woolley Factory at 500 Metcalf St, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284. Travel to Dogwood's Corporate office in Bothell and Everett Factory may be required.
