The Design Supervisor is responsible for managing an overhead and underground facilities design team in Woodlands, TX, including providing ongoing feedback, direction of work, performance evaluations, and training. This supervisor monitors the overall process of design on their team including, but not limited to, overhead design, inventory, pole boring, structural analysis, and construction prints. The incumbent is responsible for quality checking all of team's work and updating team on new project design standards. Additionally, the design supervisor prepares for and attends client engineering and construction meetings.
Advises management and staff on resolving design and employee related issues. Prioritizes own work. Exercises judgment within sometimes limited and defined procedures and practices to determine the appropriate action. Assesses the scope of assigned projects, collects data and makes decisions. Erroneous actions detected by client review may cause harm to client relationship and may result in the need for additional resources to correct.
Engages in internal and external communications with project stakeholders, including superintendents, supervisors, designers, and client engineers.
Works on mid to high complexity projects where judgment is essential for problem-solving and decision-making. Receives minimal instructions on routine work and broad guidelines on new assignments. Autonomy is expected after an initial review period, with management oversight focusing on the project's final outcome.
