Job summary

Groupe SEGULA Technologies SA is seeking a Design and Release Engineer for Front Lighting responsible for the full lifecycle of exterior lighting components from concept to program launch. You will design, package, and integrate lighting assemblies with the vehicle architecture and coordinate with suppliers to meet performance and regulatory targets.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with architecture, program science, and engineering teams to meet timelines, weight, and cost

Qualifications

• Experience in exterior lighting product development, including packaging, optics, and electronics.
• Proven ability to manage supplier deliverables and solve packaging/gap-and-flush issues.
• Familiarity with automotive CAD/PLM workflows and release milestones.

Responsibilities

• Design & Packaging: develop the styling for headlamps, tail lamps, and signal lighting; coordinate with suppliers for internal reflectors, optics, housing, and internals.
• Vehicle Integration: package and integrate lighting assemblies onto BIW, front fascia, bumper, grille, and fenders.
• Performance & Compliance: ensure lamp output and optics meet regional homologation and regulatory requirements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with Architecture/Vehicle Concepts, Program Science, local and supplier engineering to manage timelines, weight, and cost.

Job description

The Design and Release Engineer (DRE) – Front Lighting is responsible for the design, development, integration, and release of exterior lighting components from early concept through program launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Packaging: Work with the Product Design Office (PDO) to develop the styling/first-surface theme for headlamps, tail lamps, and signal lighting. Coordinate with suppliers to design the B-surface (internal reflectors/optics, housing, and internals).
• Vehicle Integration: Package and integrate lighting assemblies onto surrounding vehicle architecture, including the Body-in-White (BIW), front fascia, bumper, grille, and fenders.
• Performance & Compliance: Ensure lamp output, optical performance, and legal safety standards comply with all regional homologation, regulatory, and customer requirements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Architecture/Vehicle Concepts, Program Science teams, local engineering, and supplier engineering to manage development timelines, weight, and cost objectives.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of exterior lighting plastic product development, tooling, and optics/electronics integration.
• CAD & PLM Systems: Familiarity with automotive CAD/PLM environments (e.g., CATIA, NX, Teamcenter, Enovia) for release milestones.
• Problem Solving: Proven experience managing supplier deliverables, resolving vehicle packaging/gap-and-flush issues, and supporting launch activities.
