About Us

Alamo NEX Construction, LLC is a part of the Ferrovial Group in Texas. In 2021, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) selected Alamo NEX Construction, LLC, a joint venture between Ferrovial Construction Texas, LLC and DBW, LLC (both Ferrovial Group subsidiaries), to complete the Interstate 35 (I-35) NEX Central Project. This project is a $1.5 billion Texas Design‑Build (DB) project through the cities of San Antonio, Live Oak, Selma, and Schertz that will consist of non‑tolled improvements along I‑35, I‑140, and Loop 1604. The proposed improvements will include the addition of elevated managed lanes to I‑35, addition of 4 connector bridges at the I‑35/I‑410 North interchange, addition of 4 connector bridges at the I‑35/Loop 1604 interchange, and widening of Loop 1604 in Bexar and Guadalupe Counties.

Position

Design Quality Control Manager

Work Site: 7330 San Pedro Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78216

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, manage, and direct the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of personnel.
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with the owner or the owner’s representative.
  • Anticipate project segment conflicts, communicate preventative action plans, and implement solutions to avoid issues.
  • Generate solutions to stay on time and on budget.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by identifying and exceeding client needs.
  • Oversee the establishment, implementation and maintenance of quality control procedures and quality review standards.
  • Oversee updates to the Professional Services Quality Management Plan (PSQMP).
  • Ensure the methods and procedures contained in the approved PSQMP are implemented and followed in the performance of the work.
  • Certify that design submittal packages and design changes meet the requirements of the PSQMP and contract documents.
  • Manage coordination with TxDOT and the PSQAF regarding professional services quality control.
  • Oversee the completion of the Quality Management System Review Report.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary environment, actively communicating with the rest of company personnel involved in the design and construction works, to identify needs and evaluate process improvements.
  • Perform any other reasonable request deemed necessary by the leadership team.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related.
Experience
  • Four (4) years of experience on large civil infrastructure design‑build or design‑bid‑build projects valued at $200 million or more.
  • Previous experience managing engineering activities related to a design‑build transportation (highways, bridges, runways, or rail) construction project.
  • Proficiency in utilizing software to manage engineering and construction activities on design‑build transportation projects, specifically Bluebeam Revu, Power Geopak, Procore, databases, and SharePoint document control systems.
  • Experience working with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience coordinating multidisciplinary construction teams on large design‑build transportation projects which include design and construction engineers, superintendents, and inspectors.
  • Calculating figures and amounts and applying concepts of algebra, geometry on design‑build civil infrastructure projects.
  • Managing project budget and cost control activities and utilizing MS Excel to track payments on a design‑build transportation project.
Special Requirements
  • Registered E.I.T., or Professional Engineering (PE) registered, or able and eligible to apply within 6 months of onboarding.
Travel Requirements
  • 10% domestic and regional travel to meet with client (TxDOT) and monitor the active project – only in the Bexar County area or attend training within Texas.
