Job summary

CIVE in Houston seeks a Senior Design Project Manager to lead community and cultural project planning, scheduling, and QA/QC in line with ISO 9001:2015 and local codes. You’ll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets, and ensure design intent aligns with client goals.

The role requires BIM expertise (Revit, AutoCAD) and experience with cloud platforms and AI-enabled design tools to accelerate rapid site analysis and massing studies.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and 2+ years in construction project management.
  • Experience producing and QA/QC BIM models and 2D drawing sets in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience planning with Autodesk Construction Cloud and coordinating meetings/agendas.
  • Experience documenting cultural or civic facility projects with complex features.
  • Experience using AI-powered generative design or feasibility software (TestFit, Snaptrude, Zenerate).
  • Experience with Autodesk Forma for early-stage planning and massing studies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage design work plans integrating scope, milestones, budgets and staffing.
  • Track milestones and audit deliverables to ensure schedule and quality.
  • Monitor billable utilization and identify budget discrepancies.
  • Liaise with clients and collaborators to define programmatic requirements and constraints.
  • Lead interdisciplinary coordination meetings to resolve conflicts and maintain momentum.
  • Organize meetings with clients, consultants, AHJs and teams for alignment.
  • Provide regular design updates covering fiscal health, challenges, client feedback, and resources.
  • Summarize milestones into reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Guide drafting staff in preparing designs and drawings.
  • Interpret codes, site requirements, and technical docs to evaluate design options.
  • Oversee pre-design studies including feasibility using CAD/AI tools.
  • Lead sustainable building development with daylighting, envelope performance and wind analysis.
  • Produce 2D drawings and 3D models with CAD/drafting tools.
  • Coordinate design documents, permit sets, bid packages and construction bulletins.
  • Adhere to standards and company procedures.
  • Assist in selecting sub-consultants and vendors for compliance with requirements.
  • Contribute to ISO 9001:2015 continual improvement activities.
  • Allocate tasks across designers and BIM specialists to ensure quality.

Job description

Lead the planning and execution of community and cultural projects, with a focus on facilities requiring specialized architectural typologies and detailing. In this role, the candidate will manage project schedules, coordinate resources, and ensure all work meets internal quality management standards (ISO 9001:2015) and local building codes.

  • Develop and manage design work plans that integrate project scope, requirements, and milestone schedules with budgets and multidisciplinary staffing needs.
  • Track design project milestones and audit the progress of deliverables, performing QA/QC reviews to ensure adherence to the schedule and quality standards.
  • Monitor billableutilizationagainstallocatedhours for team members assigned to the design project,identifyingpotential budget discrepancies.
  • Liaise with clients and project collaborators to define project needs and goals, specifically programmatic requirements, design intent, and budgetary constraints.
  • Lead interdisciplinary coordination meetings toidentifyconflicts and design issues, collaborating with the production team and consultants to develop solutions thatmaintainprojectmomentum.
  • Organize meetings with project collaborators, including clients, consultants, AHJs, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring coordination, alignment, and effective information exchange.
  • Provide management with regular design project updates that include fiscal health, design challenges, client feedback, and resource availability.
  • Synthesize design project milestone progress into comprehensive reports and presentations for distribution to project collaborators, including clients, the design team, and management.
  • Provide guidance andassistdrafting staff involved in preparing designs and drawings.
  • Assistthe project team in interpreting building codes, site requirements, and technical documentation, guiding the evaluation of design options and their impact.
  • Prepare and oversee pre-design services, including feasibility studies,utilizingCAD and AI tools to analyze spatial constraints and ordinances.
  • Design and oversee the development of sustainable buildings,utilizinganalysis tools for daylighting, envelope performance, and wind simulation.
  • Generate 2D drawings and 3D models efficiently using computer-aided design (CAD) software or other drafting tools.
  • Coordinate the preparation and issuance of design documents and technical specifications, managing the distribution of permit sets, bid packages, and construction bulletins to ensure allcollaborators are working from the current revision of record.
  • Follow the standards, instructions, and procedures, consistent with the design specifications, bestpracticesand company standards.
  • Facilitate the selection of sub-consultants and material vendors, evaluating qualifications and product specifications to verify compliance with project requirements, design intent, andbudgetaryconstrains.
  • Support andparticipatein theorganizationsContinual Improvement Program to conform to ISO 9001:2015 requirements bycomplying withthe QualityPolicy and proceduresand meetingQMS objectives.
  • Allocate tasks and responsibilities among design team members, including designers and BIM specialists, ensuring efficient resource distribution and consistent quality throughout theproject lifecycle.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Master’s degree inProject Management, Architecture, Construction Management or a related fieldand24 monthsof experience inConstruction project management or related occupation.
  • Must have 2 years of experience producing and quality-checking BIM models and 2D drawing sets using Revit and AutoCAD, including floor plans and elevations.
  • Must have 1 year of experience managing design workflows using the cloud-based construction/project collaboration platform, Autodesk Construction Cloud, including preparing meetingagendas/minutes, assigning tasks, and tracking RFIs/submittals.
  • Must have 1 year of experience supporting the planning and documentation of at least one cultural or civic facility project that included, dome structures, geometric patterning, directionalassembly spaces, or similar architectural features, including coordinating specialty input and translating requirements into drawings/models.
  • Must have 1 year of experienceutilizingAI-powered generative design or feasibility software –TestFit,Snaptrude,Zenerate– to conduct rapid site analysis, massing studies, and yieldverification.
  • Must have 1 year of experience in early-stage planning using Autodesk Forma to create and evaluate conceptual site/massing alternatives for building projects, including documentingbasic planning assumptions (e.g., site constraints, programtargets, and stakeholder requirements) and exporting materials for internal/client review.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Up to 5% domestic travel may be required .
