Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a project leader to guide the project team from contract award, overseeing all aspects of the project design with Owners, Engineers, and Architects, while providing financial and risk reporting to management.

Responsibilities include managing contract execution, monitoring scope changes, creating a project execution plan, and updating schedules to accommodate QA and client reviews. The role emphasizes strong client relations and adherence to corporate procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management with 4-5 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of project controls including change management.
• Develop engineering fee cost estimates with input from discipline leadership and manage project design schedules.

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external Clients and their representatives.
• Accountable for managing the overall execution of the Contract.
• Closely monitors scope changes and communicates impact (costs, schedule) to client in a timely manner.
• Create the project-specific execution plan and update it as conditions change.
• Owns, updates, and communicates the project design schedule; allow time for QA and client reviews.
• Identify and escalate potential project risks to the Managing Principal.

Position Summary

Provide leadership to the project team upon award of a contractincludingmanagingall aspects of a project's design with Owners, Engineers, and Architects asrequired.Requires necessary financial and risk management reporting to internal management and the necessary business acuity to protect Southland Engineering's interests whilemaintainingpositive client relationships.

Position Details

Client and Contract

• Develop andmaintaincontinuous positive relationships with internal andexternal Clientsand their representatives.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the Owner contract and client Master Service Agreements
• Accountable for managing the overall execution of the Contract
• Closely monitors scope changes.Communicates impact of changes (costs, schedule) to client in a timely manner.

Project Execution

• Provide leadership to the project team upon award of a Contract.
• Responsible for ensuring all applicable corporate procedures and tools are followed / used on the project.
• Responsible for creating the project specific executionplancommunicating the content with the team. This includes making updates as project conditions and requirements change.
• Clearly understands and communicates baseline scope of work toprojectteam.Keeps team updated as necessary with approved change orders.
• Ownsmanages,updatesand communicates the project design schedule to the project team.Ensures adequate time is allowed in schedule for QA and client review cycles to be properly conducted.
• Identifies and escalates potential project risks to the Managing Principal.

Project Controls

• Works with Project Accounting to ensure budgets, forecasts,billingsand accounts receivable are updated in COINS.
• Prepares required project status documents and leads discussion during monthly review meetings to include financial forecasts, revenue and margin projections, staffing projections, client relationship status and project overall status

Qualifications

• B.S. in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management with4-5years of relevant experience.
• Excellent knowledge of project controls including but not limited to the following:
• Effectivelymonitoringthe change management process.
• Develop engineering fee cost estimates with input from the respective discipline leadership
• Develop,monitorand manage project design schedules

Pay

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Virginia this ranges from $118,119.00 - $144,368.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
