Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple projects from design development through construction, installation, and completion
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants, general contractors, subcontractors, fabricators, and vendors throughout each phase
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, deadlines, priorities, and deliverables
  • Read and interpret architectural and construction drawing sets, including floor plans and elevations
  • Review drawings, specifications, and field conditions to identify discrepancies or coordination issues
  • Maintain a strong understanding of general construction methods, terminology, sequencing, detailing, and trade coordination
  • Attend job-site meetings and site visits to review construction progress and ensure design intent is executed
  • Document site conditions, action items, outstanding decisions, and necessary follow-ups
  • Coordinate design clarifications, RFIs, samples, approvals, specifications, and information for construction team
  • Communicate confidently with contractors and trades to resolve questions and keep work moving
  • Oversee procurement, order tracking, lead times, deliveries, and project logistics
  • Coordinate material and finish selections, specifications, vendor information, and installation requirements
  • Maintain organized project documentation, meeting notes, approvals, correspondence, and internal task lists
  • Delegate and follow up with design team to ensure deadlines and deliverables
  • Proactively identify delays or challenges and pursue solutions
  • Support installations, styling, punch walks, and final project closeout
  • Maintain clear, polished communication and an exceptional client experience

Interior Design Project Manager

Alexx Kesh Interior Design Studio Full-Time | In-Person | Montrose, CA


We’re seeking an experienced Design Project Manager with a strong background inconstruction coordination, and project management to oversee luxury residential and boutique commercial projects from concept through construction and final installation.


This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, proactive, construction-savvy, and confident managing the many moving parts required to successfully execute a design project.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Lead and manage multiple projects from design development through construction, installation, and completion

  • Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants, general contractors, subcontractors, fabricators, and vendors throughout each phase

  • Manage project schedules, budgets, deadlines, priorities, and deliverables

  • Read and interpret architectural and construction drawing sets, including floor plans, elevations, sections, RCPs, electrical, plumbing, millwork, and finish plans

  • Review drawings, specifications, and field conditions to identify discrepancies, missing information, or potential coordination issues

  • Maintain a strong understanding of general construction methods, terminology, sequencing, detailing, and trade coordination

  • Attend job-site meetings and site visits to review construction progress and ensure design intent is being properly executed

  • Document site conditions, action items, outstanding decisions, and necessary follow-ups

  • Coordinate design clarifications, RFIs, samples, approvals, specifications, and information required by the construction team

  • Communicate confidently with contractors and trades to resolve project questions and keep work moving forward

  • Oversee procurement, order tracking, lead times, deliveries, and project logistics

QUALIFICATIONS


  • 3+ years of experience in interior design project management or a closely related architecture/construction role

  • Experience with high-end residential and/or boutique commercial projects

  • Strong ability to read and understand architectural and construction documents is required

  • Strong understanding of general construction, detailing, field conditions, construction sequencing, and coordination between trades

  • Comfortable walking an active job site and understanding construction progress and potential concerns

  • Confident communicating directly with architects, GCs, subcontractors, millworkers, fabricators, consultants, and vendors

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and SketchUp

  • Proficient in Google Workspace and Canva

  • Exceptional organization, communication, and follow-through

  • Ability to manage multiple active projects and shifting priorities simultaneously

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate needs rather than wait for direction

  • Collaborative, proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven

  • Passion for thoughtful design and delivering an elevated client experience


THE RIGHT FIT

We’re looking for someone who naturally takes ownership and keeps projects moving.


You should be comfortable reviewing a drawing set, participating confidently in a contractor meeting, walking a construction site, identifying what needs attention, creating a clear action plan, delegating internally, and following through until each item is resolved.


This is not primarily a creative design position. While a strong design eye is important, the focus of this role is project leadership, construction coordination, organization, communication, and execution of the studio’s design vision.
