McPherson County Public Works is seeking a Full‑time County Design/Project Engineer. The applicant will assist in the design of all county engineering projects, roads, bridges and drainage structures under the direction of the Project Engineer or Director.
Responsibilities: Assist in problem solving county road and bridge maintenance and construction issues; assist in the operation of the county's asphalt plant; be trained in using AutoDesk Civil 3D, ASSHPTO Bridge Loading software, MicroStation and other design programs.
Qualifications: Must be a recent graduate from an accredited college or university, preferably with an EIT or capable of obtaining the FE certification within 6 months. After employment, the applicant will become Bridge Inspection Team Leader and will receive KDOT inspection and materials testing certifications.
Salary and Benefits: Beginning annual salary: $70,000 to $100,000 (DOQ) with two pay increases within one year of employment and a structured salary increase after the applicant passes the PE exam. Full county benefit package.
