Design & Production Mechanical Engineer – MK-99 System

Job Type: Full-time

Paragon Force is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to provide comprehensive engineering support for the MK-99 radar system, focusing on both design and production engineering efforts. This role involves collaborating with diverse stakeholders, leveraging specialized tools for design capture, engineering analysis, and modeling/simulation while ensuring effective communication to drive successful outcomes.

The selected candidate will:

  • Develop and refine mechanical engineering designs for the MK-99 radar system, aligning with program objectives and specifications.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), program office personnel, fleet contacts, In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEA), and other radar systems stakeholders to collect and integrate technical and operational requirements.
  • Utilize advanced Mechanical Engineering drawing software and modeling tools to create and validate designs for the MK-99 system infrastructure.
  • Conduct rigorous engineering analysis to ensure system robustness, reliability, and compliance with mechanical engineering standards.
  • Support systems engineering processes such as requirements capture, design synthesis, analysis, and verification for the MK-99 system.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports and presentations to document system designs, program status, and analysis outcomes.
  • Troubleshoot and provide solutions for mechanical issues occurring in ongoing MK-99 radar-related production and operational projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have expertise in the following:

  • Oral and Written Communication: Exceptional ability to document, present, and communicate technical details to stakeholders, including SMEs, program teams, and engineering support agents.
  • Report Compilation: Ability to prepare and deliver detailed technical reports across various lifecycle phases of the MK-99 system.
  • Mechanical Engineering Drawing Software: Proficient in tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar for creating and managing radar system design schematics.
  • Engineering Analysis Software: Skilled in the use of analysis tools such as ANSYS or MATLAB for mechanical stress analysis and simulation.
  • Systems Engineering: Familiarity with requirements development, lifecycle management, and engineering processes tailored to military systems.
  • Analyzers: Hands‑on experience using mechanical or system-specific analyzers, such as vibration, thermal, or structural system analyzers.
  • Mechanical Engineering Design: Proven ability to design complex mechanical systems, with a focus on radar or defense‑specific hardware like the MK-99.
  • Requirements Analysis: Strong skills in analyzing and translating operational requirements into actionable design specifications.
  • System Design: Ability to develop and deliver high‑quality system designs that meet operational, functional, and environmental engineering standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity or prior work experience with the MK-99 Fire Control System or similar radar systems.
  • Understanding of military standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and related requirements for radar systems.
  • Experience working in defense, aerospace, or military environments, specifically with Navy weapons systems.
  • Advanced problem‑solving skills combined with the ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Interim Secret clearance required to start.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and hold a finalized Secret clearance.
