Job summary

Gensler, headquartered in Seattle, seeks an experienced Design Manager to lead all phases of interior architecture projects and mentor junior staff. You will act as the main client contact, manage schedules and budgets, and coordinate with contractors and consultants to ensure successful outcomes.

The role requires 10+ years in design management, a Bachelor’s in Architecture, and certifications such as architectural license.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Design Management experience in an Architecture firm.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Architecture.
  • Sustainable design experience with LEED participation.
  • Accredited Professional certification (Architectural License or Interior Design Certification).
  • Experience with LEED, FITWEL, WELL, LIVING BUILDING (LFA), PASSIVE HOUSE or other programs.
  • Knowledge of all phases of architectural projects and building codes.
  • Ability to provide excellent client service and mentor junior staff.
  • High level of design competence; proficient in MS Office; Revit, AutoCAD and InDesign.

We are searching for an experienced Design Manager with a successful track record of managing all phases of interior architecture projects and leading multiple complex projects at the same time.


Your Role

A Design Manager at Gensler works with autonomy to be responsible for execution of a variety of project types and sizes and will lead all phases of projects. They will be involved in all phases of the project delivery and must have a working knowledge of this process with the ability to deliver the successful completion of a project. A Design Manager will work/interact with and mentor junior staff to encourage a high level of design and ensure client satisfaction through being the main point of contact for the client in all work produced.


What You Will Do


  • Act as lead design manager for a variety of project types

  • Drive the project delivery during all phases of the project

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans

  • Lead the relationships with the client, contractor, agencies, as well as engineering and specialty consultants

  • Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements

  • Review internal project accounting documents and process draft project billing

  • Participate in firm marketing, proposal writing, and project interviews

  • Manage mid-size to large project teams, assign and monitor completion of tasks

  • Mentor junior staff

  • Participate in the coordination and document preparation for projects and provide quality assurance via review of project documentation

  • Other related duties as assigned


Your Qualifications


  • 10+ years of Design Management experience in an Architecture firm, working on corporate interiors architecture project types

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Architecture

  • Sustainable design experience, with a preference for hands‑on LEED project participation

  • Accredited Professional certification(Architectural License or Interior Design Certification

  • Experience with: LEED,FITWEL, WELL,LIVING BUILDING (LFA), PASSIVE HOUSE(CPHC), orother relevant programs

  • Knowledge and experience in all phases of architectural projects

  • Ability to provide excellent client service and assure project profitabilityDesire to mentor junior staff

  • High level of design competence

  • Knowledge of state and local building codes including accessibility

  • Computer savvy with moderate or better skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Project)

  • Revit, AutoCAD and InDesign skills

  • The base salary will be estimated between $110,000 - $140,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience
