Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in design management, engineering management, architecture, construction, or project delivery.
  • Experience coordinating multiple architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Experience reviewing design drawings, technical specifications, submittals, and construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of design schedules, document-control processes, RFIs, submittals, and change management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure plans meet program, budget, environmental, and legal requirements.
  • Manage design process from programming to project closeout.
  • Coordinate architectural and engineering disciplines (MEP, civil, structural, etc.).
  • Oversee MEP design coordination and integration.
  • Act as owner’s design-management lead and liaison for architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Plan and coordinate project schedule, scope, and cost; monitor progress and delays.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure that plans are within functional program, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements.
  • Manage the design process from programming and concept design through construction documents, construction administration, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Coordinate all design disciplines, including architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, security, and telecommunications.
  • Provide particular oversight of MEP design coordination and integration.
  • Serve as the owner’s primary design-management representative and point of contact for architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate all aspects of the project schedule, scope, and cost.
  • Monitor design progress against the project schedule and identify potential delays, gaps, conflicts, or incomplete deliverables.
  • Communicate with and manage project stakeholders.
  • Prepare Project Management plan and fee budget/proposal at the project outset.
  • Evaluate documents and communicate the client’s specific goals and expectations to all project team members.
  • Develop and communicate action plans that will lead the project team throughout the project, beginning with the initial Project Management Plan.
  • Re-evaluate the contract scope of work as the project progresses against the goals, expectations, and the needs of the client, and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Coordinate with cost management group as applicable for preparation of cost estimates, cost studies, actual job cost reviews, and budget reconciliation.
Knowledge & Skills Required
  • 7+ years of experience in design management, engineering management, architecture, construction, or project delivery.
  • Experience coordinating multiple architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Experience reviewing design drawings, technical specifications, submittals, and construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of design schedules, document-control processes, RFIs, submittals, and change management.
  • Deliver quality work product by role modeling organizational core values.

  • Consistently communicates and collaborates with team members and clients.
  • Build relationships with peers, leaders, and clients.
Preferred Education And Experience
  • Education: BA or BS in Architecture, Engineering, Planning or Construction Management; courses in Business Administration, Public Relations, Accounting, School Finance
  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, or large commercial construction projects.
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Architect license.
  • Knowledge of BIM, Revit, Navisworks, and clash-detection processes.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, integrated systems testing, and facility turnover.
  • LEED, PMP, DBIA, or similar professional certification.

The salary range for this full-time role is $93,000.00-$124,000.02 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
