Job summary

Haskell is seeking a Project Design Manager in Salt Lake City to lead design project management from proposal through closeout. You will inspire the design team to collaborate and achieve project goals across small to mid-size projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in architecture with 10+ years of progressive design leadership, professional registration, and strong scheduling and client-relations skills. Travel up to 20% is expected; PMP is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture preferred and 10+ years of progressive experience leading design projects.
• Professional registration required.
• Experience with design and engineering systems in facilities/process environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the project complies with Prime Contract requirements.
• Develop, monitor, and update a sequenced design schedule.
• Prequalify design consultants.
• Prepare professional service agreements to minimize risk.
• Evaluate changes affecting scope and schedule.
• Prepare clear project communications, verbal and written.
• Foster trust-based relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Emphasize safe work practices during design and field activities.
• Facilitate design reviews to meet quality objectives.
• Use standard PM tools in line with company policies from proposal to close-out.
• Forecast and report project financial performance with leaders.
• Solicit input for fee proposals or change orders.
• Travel up to 20% annually.

The Project Design Manager executes design project management for small projects and/or those with limited disciplines fromproposalphase through project closeout.Leads and inspires the design team to collaborate to achieve all project goals.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensuresthe compliancewith all Prime Contract requirements.
• Develops, monitors, and updates an efficiently sequenced project design schedule and regularly advises the project team of changes.
• Assures design consultants are prequalified.
• Prepares Professional Service Agreements for design consultants that minimize risk to the Company.
• Evaluates and distributes changes/add services effecting project scope and schedule.
• Prepares clear and concise project communications, oral and written.
• Builds positive working relationships with current clients, internal and external, establishing a relationship of trust.
• Displays a commitment to safe work practices both during design document development and in the field.
• Facilitates and monitors design reviews of documents to ensure project quality objectives are achieved.
• Utilizes standard project management tools and techniques that comply with all company policies from proposal through close-out.
• Forecasts and reports project financial performance and reviews with design business unit leaders and project leaders (for integrated projects).
• Solicits input from practice areas for development of fee proposal or change order requests/add services.
• Travel up to 20% annually.

Education & Years of Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture preferred and generally 10+ years of progressive experience in a design discipline leading to being an independent lead designer.

To Thrive in this Role, You'll Need:

• Professional registration (required).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired but not required.
• Knowledge of various relevant architectural and engineering systems (e.g., facilities, process and/or packaging systems as applicable).
• Knowledge of drawing production software and integration requirements for complete project modeling.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Ability to adjust to changing timelines, meet deadlines and excellent time management skills.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, team members may be required to visit alternate locations and therefore must have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to do so. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The team member is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
