Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Sr Principal Engineer Electrical to lead design and integration of avionics power systems and harness/test-stand development for advanced aerospace platforms in Palmdale, CA. You will interpret schematics and troubleshoot in the lab to deliver robust solutions for diverse projects.

Requires a STEM degree with 8+ years (or advanced degrees with fewer years), Top Secret clearance, and ability to obtain SAP clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM field with 8 years experience, OR Master's with 6 years, OR PhD with 4 years.
  • Active US Government Top Secret clearance with recent background investigation or Continuous Evaluation.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and test-stand diagrams.
  • Knowledge of power distribution and redundancy in avionics systems.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr Principal Engineer Electrical to join the team of qualified individuals. Position is located in Palmdale, CA. Lead cross-functional design and integration of avionics power systems, redundancy strategies, and harness/test-stand development for advanced aerospace platforms. Apply your ability to interpret schematics and wiring to troubleshoot in the lab and deliver robust solutions for diverse customers and projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
  • Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Troubleshooting in lab, working with testers and assisting in processes.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master's degree AND 6 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in.
  • Must have an active US Government Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and/or test-stand block diagrams.
  • Knowledge of power distribution and redundancy
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Teamcenter/CPLM
  • Experience in designing or architecting avionics or aerospace electrical systems, including flight control computers, power systems, sensors, and communication systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts to both Government and corporate leadership.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or similar.
  • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Primary Level Salary Range:

$142,200.00 - $213,400.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
