Job summary

The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) invites applications for a full-time Associate Faculty position in Design and Innovation. The role focuses on experiential learning with external partners, teaching across the Design and Innovation curriculum, including the Design Core and CEL courses.

The successful candidate will mentor students, develop industry-connected projects, and contribute to program assessment while advancing transdisciplinary practice.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 1–3 years of college teaching experience.
• Experience designing/teaching courses or projects with external partners (community orgs, industry, etc.).
• Ability to develop projects connecting partner needs with student learning.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach eight course units per year across the Design and Innovation curriculum including Design Core and CEL courses.
• Teach CEL courses with external partners and manage real-world projects.
• Identify, develop, and sustain partnerships with external partners via the Design + Innovation Hub.
• Advise and mentor students; assess learning and contribute to program assessment.
