Job summary

Pref-Tech, a Houston-based security integration company, is seeking a Design Estimator II to support the Sales team by preparing estimates for assigned projects according to our estimation standards.

The role requires reviewing blueprints, collaborating with Sales and Project Managers, visiting sites, and developing subject matter expertise in security integration to become a trusted advisor. Remote work up to 70% is possible; some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in general construction and/or specialty trade contracting industries.

Position Overview:

A Design Estimator II at Pref-Tech is responsible for supporting the rest of the Sales team members in the construction of estimates for assigned projects based on Preferred Technologies estimation standards.

• These are individuals with 3+ years of estimating experience or field work within the Security Integration industry.
• A DE II individual will be dedicated to any number of Pref-Tech’s Preferred Partner accounts, and during their time as a DE II, will be responsible for estimating projects large in scale, scope, and complexity.
• The DE II also mentors for DE I personnel.
• The DE II is required to become a Subject Matter Expert in any Security Integration area of knowledge in order to become a Trusted Advisor in those subjects.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• Experience in general construction and/or specialty trade contracting industries

• Experience and confidence with public speaking and presenting to audiences
• Ability to hold others accountable to completing their assigned tasks, even if they hold positions of greater responsibility

• Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality or accuracy
• Hold Genetec, Hanwha, DMP/Bosch and Axis certifications within 6 months of hire (company provided)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience with AutoCAD/Bluebeam (Revu)
• Fluency with Microsoft Office 365 software tools

Work Hours:

Standard workdays and times are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. About 70% of the time Design Estimator work can be done remotely. The remaining 30% will include in-person activities such as meetings, networking events, etc. Some travel will be required.

Physical Requirement:

This position is primarily computer-based and requires the ability to sit for extended periods, operate a computer and standard office equipment, and communicate effectively in person and electronically.
