Job summary

Clopay Corporation in Mountaintop, PA is seeking a Design Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of design engineers, guide technical execution, and ensure projects meet quality, budget, and safety standards.

The role requires a mechanical engineering degree with 10–15+ years of experience, proficiency in Inventor, and hands‑on tooling knowledge. A strong leadership mindset and collaboration across engineering, sales, and manufacturing are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Associates (minimum 15 years of experience) or Bachelor’s (minimum 10 years of experience) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or other similar degree program.
  • Proficient in AutoDesk Inventor or similar 3D parametric modeling software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Product Suite.
  • High Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools and basic shop tools.
  • EIT or PE preferred.
  • Working knowledge of motors and electrical control equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise team of design engineers both on‑site and in remote locations.
  • Provide support for external customers in combination with the Sales and Technical Support Departments.
  • Complete Special Requests for jobs that cannot be processed within the scope of engineering standards and system programs.
  • Provide troubleshooting and installation support for customers and units in the field.
  • Maintain engineering standards and drawings through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Complete line extensions to expand product offering.
  • Work with Production and Strategic Manufacturing on Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Work with Strategic Marketing and Marketing to effectively launch new product offerings.
  • Use parametric CAD (Inventor) to create 3D models of parts and assemblies using a variety of manufacturing materials & processes including sheet metal, structural steel, welding, casting, and roll forming.
  • Perform various analysis on parts and systems for compliance to various codes including ASCE, AISC, IBC, and ACI.
  • Identify and implement cost reductions and product improvements.
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming activities with other design engineers.
  • Run and manage projects individually or in collaboration with other design engineers.

We currently have an opening for a Design Engineering Supervisor at our Mountaintop Facility.

Purpose: to lead a team of design staff, guide technical execution, and ensure project plans, products, or systems meet quality, budget and safety standards.
